Microvision

Company description: 

Microvision logoMicrovision is a public company based in the US with around 150 employees, focused on Display systems. Microvision has developed their own laser-beam-steering pico projection engine, the PicoP - with 848x480 resolution, 10 Lumens at 60Hz refresh rate, and a 5,000:1 contrast ratio. The engine can be embedded in other gadgets.
Microvision also offers the Show WX, a projector based on their PicoP engine soon. It is already shipping in the US, Asia, and in Spain. You can buy it from Amazon for $549.

Mirrorcle Technologies

Company description: 

Mirrorcle logoMirrorcle provides several optical MEMS products and services. One of their products is a MEMS Mirror-based projection displays, to be used in pico projectors.

Optoma

Company description: 

Optoma logoOptoma makes projectors, using TI's DLP technology.

Optoma has 3 availavle Pico Projectors: The low end PK-100 (197$), the old PK-101 (219$), and the new PK-102 (249$). All 3 uses the same light engine.

They have also announced two upcoming pico-projectors that use TI's second generation DLP chip. The PK-301 and the PK 201.

Opus Microsystems

Company description: 

Opus Microsystems logo Opus Microsystems is a Taiwanese MEMS design company devoted to design and development of MEMS scanning mirror devices and modules. Opus are working on a pico projector Module.

Company description: 

Photodigm is a US based company, developing and producing precision lasers since 2000. They are working on a new way to make pico-projector lasers that will be cheap and efficient.

Syndiant

Company description: 

Syndiant logoSyndiant, founded in 2004 and based in Texas, has designed light-modulating panels for high-res displays used in pico projectors.

Syndiant’s light modulating panels use Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCoS) to provide a high resolution display, and are designed to work with either LED or laser light sources.

Syndiant has 4 differnet pico-projector modules:

  • The SYL2010: 800x600 resolution, 20 lumens
  • The SYL2030: WVGA (854x480) resolution, only 6 mm tall. 
  • The SYL2041: SVGA (800x600) and WVGA (854x480) resolutions.
  • The SYL2061: Wide SVGA (1025x600) resolution. 

Syndiant's modules are used in several projectors, including AAXA's L1 laser projector.

Texas Instruments

Company description: 

TI LogoTexas Instruments (TI) develops analog, digital signal processing, RF and DLP®
semiconductor technologies. TI has recently announced their second generation DLP chip for pico-projectors, which should start to appear in products soon.

TI is behind the DLP chip that powers displays from TVs to Pico Projectors.

Young Optics

Company description: 

Young Optics logoYoung Optics is a subsidiary of Coretronic, and is based in Taiwan. Their pico projector modules are based on TI's DLP chips.

Their modules are being used by Samsung in their Show W7900/i7410 mobile projector phones.
