Corning to start mass-producing Green lasers by mid 2009, Microvision will then start shipping their pico projector

A couple of days ago we reported that Microvision will use Corning's green laser (G-1000). Now Corning gives us some more information. They will start mass-producing the laser by mid 2009.

Corning says they make the green laser by doubling the frequency of an infrared laser. 

Microvision says they got a backlog of orders for the Show WX projector, which will begin to ship after the green laser is available (mid 2009). They also hope to announce OEM agreements for their PicoP engine.
