Laser pico-projector to help guide surgeons

Researchers from the ARTORG Center of Computer Aided Surgery at the University of Bern in Switzerland are developing a pico-projector based visual display application that can help guide surgeons when performing operations. They use Microvision's PicoP engine in a handheld projector prototype that projects images of key vascular structures onto the patient’s organs, such as a liver, during surgery.

This is quite similar to the Stanford research we reported about a few weeks ago which uses a ceiling-mounted PicoP to project MRI information on patient bodies.
