Micron announces the V100 LCoS pico-projector moduleMicron has announced a new pico-projector module, the V100. It's an F-LCoS pico-projector that supports only 320x240 resolution at 5 lumens. Micron says that the V100 features integrated circuitry that handles all processing requires for display the images, and plan to market these for embedded mobile applications as it can save processing power in the device main processor. However with such low resolution and power I'm not sure how useful it can be... The V100 is 33x31x12mm in size (8.5cc) and draws 1.5 watts. Micron plans to start mass production by the end of 2010, and expects to see products (both embedded and stand-alone projectors) in mid-2011. The price is expected to be below $30. Micron is in talks with more than one handset vendor about embedding the V100 in a mobile phone.

5 lumens is pretty much worthless
Do you have any clue how dim 5 lumens is? Brightness is FAR more important than resolution...the micron engine is a JOKE, way too dim to be usable in anything other than total, complete darkness. How often do you use your cellphone in a pitch black room? microvision projector is also a joke, the company is about to go bankrupt. Max brightness with laser is 15 lumens due to eye safety.
