Kodak launches three new pico projectors

Kodak announced three new pico projectors. First up is the pocket portable projector, which features a 640x360 DLP projector, 75 lumens and USB, MicroSD and HDMI inputs. The Kodak pocket portable projector is now shipping for $199.5

The Cube-like Kodak Pocket Pico Projector features a 854x480 100 lumens DLP projector and HDMI, MicroSD and USB inputs. The Kodak Pocket Pico Projector is now shipping for $249.9. Kodak also offers a similar projector with wireless connectivity for $299.99.

Sharp releases a Wi-Fi only model of the PicoP powered RoBoHon robot

In October 2015 Sharp launched a new small smartphone robot that has articulated animated arms and legs and a built-in 720p laser pico projector (Microvision's PicoP LBS projector). The RoBoHon is still available in Japan for 200,000 Yen (around $1750).

Sharp announced that it will launch a new edition of RoBoHon (model SR-02M-W) which offers the same features without the cellular connectivity. The RoBoHon Wi-Fi will cost 138,000 Yen (around $1,250).

Bosch announces a new LBS pico projector module

Bosch Sensortec announced a new LBS pico projector module, the BML050. The new module is based on dual MEMS mirrors and can requires RGB laser diodesas light sources. The BML050 module includes a video processor, control circuits, laser drivers and power management ICs.

Bosch says that the BML050 module will be available for selected customer projects in the second half of 2017. The modules supports a resolution of 720p at a frame rate of 50-72 Hz. The operation temperature range is 0 – 60 °C.

Sony's updated laser pico projector, the MP-CL1A is now shipping

Sony's MP-CL1A (an update to Sony's MP-CL1) is now shipping - for $399.99 in the US. The MP-CL1A is a laser (LBS) HD (1920x720) pico projector that offers focus-free and short-throw projection. The MP-CL1 supports bluetooth, Wi-Fi and HDMI/MHL connectivity and has a built-in 3,400 mAh battery good for 2 hours.

Lenovo's Moto Z Insta-Share projector mod to ship soon for $299.99

In June 2016 Lenovo launched its Moto Z smartphone, that supports modular accessories. One of those accessories is the Insta-Share, a 50-lumens 854x480 (probably DLP) pico projector that can project images up to 70". The Insta-Share is now available through amazon for $299.99 - and will ship within 1-3 months.

Other features of the Moto Z include a 5.5" QHD AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 820 CPU, 4GB of RAM, 32/64GB of storage and a 13MP laser-AF camera. The Moto Z Force variant is a bit thicker, but it sports a larger battery, 21MP camera and a shatter-proof display.

Lenovo launches a new smartphone with an optional pico projector

Lenovo launched a new smartphone, the Moto Z, that supports modular accessories - MotoMods - that attach to the phone using magnets. At launch, accessories include a power pack, a JBL speaker and a pico projector.

Lenovo announced a 12" Windows tablet with an optional pico projector module

Lenovo announced a new tablet, the ThinkPad X1 tablet, a 12" Windows tablet powered by Intel’s latest Core m7 chipset. Lenovo announced three options modules for the new tablet - a keyboard, a 3D camera and a pico projector.

The so-called "presenter" module is the pico projector module, and it can project images up to 60" in size. We do not have any more technical specifications - but the cost will be $279 when the X1 launches next month (the tablet itself costs $899).
