Digitimes reports that Young Optics say that shipments of pico projectors have been weaker than expected - due to delays in product launches by their clients, and high product prices.
Young Optics say that the pico projector market will take off in 2010, when module prices drop to 50$.

I think cell phones and PMP's will be the big market for these. First Samsung released theirs, and now Yinlips is getting ready to release theirs as well...
market will take off when it hits $50???
is a cheaper price all it would take? performance doesn't matter?
embedded projectors
I think that the big market for pico projectors are embedded projectors - in cell phones, digital cameras, laptops, etc.
For this to happen they must drop in price, otherwise it will only happen in high-end or niche gadgets...
